Occasional Cakes By Barb, cakes for all occasions
I have developed tried-and-tested cake recipes which adapt to the many different flavours I can provide, some of the most popular choices are Lemon, Vanilla, Coffee & Walnut and, of course, Chocolate.
I also offer a traditional rich fruit cake, which will need time to mature and absorb the alcohol of your choice and my light fruit cake, which is proving a very big hit with everyone, even those who "don't like fruit cake"!
I also have a very popular gluten free cake and an excellent dairy free cake avalable.

The difference between my wedding cakes and my other celebration cakes, is simply that wedding cake tiers are much taller - around 4 - 4.5 inches tall against the usual 3 inches of a birthday or anniversary cake.  As they are taller wedding cakes will have as much as 50% more ingredients, so require more time in the oven baking and more icing to cover. They normally have more elaborate and time-consuming decoration. In fact Wedding cakes have more of everything! That is except for attention to detail which is equally important for every cake I bake and decorate.

The total cost of a cake I supply will depend on a number of factors. The number of cakes in a design, their size, height and shape, are all important but it's the complexity of the design and the time it takes to create that design that is the main factor. Other factors such as recipe, flavor and dietary requirements only make a small difference.

I offer a free consultation, this is to help gather your requirements and to design your cake. Then I can provide you with a no obligation quote. If you accept the quote we ask for a deposit to book your cake. Once your deposit is paid your date is reserved and the price fixed.

Things you need to consider about your cake.
What flavor cake do I want?
What shape cake do I want?
What size cake do I need for my guests? This will depend on the portion you decide to serve and the number of guests. For wedding cakes the normally size is 2" by 1" for sponge cakes  or 1" by 1" for fruit cake, so a 10" square cake will provide 50 serving of sponge or 100 if its fruit cake and a 10" round cake will  provide 38
serving of sponge or 76 if its fruit cake
For birthday cakes there is no general guide to portion size.

Please contact me to talk about your requirements and arrange a no obligation quote.
